5:30 Mass for the Feast of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist
Our
Lady & Saint John Catholic Church invites one and all to a Mass in the
Ordinariate Form at 5:30 PM on Friday, December 27th at Saint Martin's to
celebrate their secondary patron, Saint John the Evangelist. The Mass will be
followed by a light reception including the tasting and blessing of wine and
beverages. Wine is traditionally blessed on St. John's Day in remembrance of
the legend that St. John safely drank poisoned wine offered to him by his enemy
after blessing it. The wine tasting functions as a friendly competition. If you
wish to take part in this competition, bring two bottles of the same wine under
$20 each.
